What is a PechaKucha?

PechaKucha is a short presentation format designed to stimulate conversation, spark ideas, and entertain audiences. You can learn more at www.PechaKucha.com. Think of it as a short TED Talk with images—and a great opportunity to show off energy efficiency innovation in front of your peers!

PechaKucha presenters deliver 20 slides, spending 20 seconds on each slide. That gives them 400 seconds—almost seven minutes—to give a fast-paced, engrossing, and highly visual presentation on the theme topic. There will be a brief time for audience questions.

The format is designed to keep people engaged by forcing you to carefully consider your images and words to best convey your idea. Check out this video on what makes a great PechaKucha presentation.

When is the PechaKucha happening?

KEEA and EEA-NJ will host a PechaKucha session on the afternoon of September 18th—day two of Policy in Action, KEEA & EEA-NJ’s 2024 Conference.

What’s the theme topic?

The 2024 PechaKucha theme will be “New Challenges, New Solutions” in energy efficiency. Presenters should describe a new challenge they’ve encountered in our region’s rapidly shifting energy efficiency landscape—and how they’ve thought outside the box to find solutions.

How can I participate?

Participation is open to all conference attendees. To be considered, submit a short abstract of your presentation through our online form by Sunday, July 15.

Accepted presenters will be informed by Friday, July 19th. Accepted presenters must submit complete 20 complete PechaKucha slides by Thursday, August 15th. Accepted presenters must also engage in a “dry run” practice presentation in August.

How are abstracts chosen?

Presenting abstracts will be selected by KEEA and EEA-NJ’s 2024 Conference Committee. “Newness” of the challenge and solution described, relevance to the conference audience and content, and fit with other PechaKucha submissions will all be considered.
