PA 2020 Clean Jobs Report

Today, E2 (Environmental Entrepreneurs) along with KEEA, the Green Building Alliance (GBA), Green Building United, the Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia, and Sustainable Pittsburgh released the latest clean energy employment report for the state of Pennsylvania showing the state had 93,900 clean energy workers at the end of 2019 and since the COVID-19 crisis began has lost more than 18,000 workers (or 19% of its workforce).

According to the report, before the coronavirus Pennsylvania had the 11th largest clean energy workforce among all 50 states and the District of Columbia after increasing employment 9.6% since 2017 – five times faster than overall statewide employment growth (2%) and three times faster than fossil fuels. Pennsylvania ranks 11th or 12th across the U.S. in 14 difference clean energy categories and has the 2nd-highest percentage of union workers in clean energy jobs (9.4%) on the East Coast.
